Sadly I’ve arrive to my viewing of the last episode of Season 2. Gleefully, it appears Universal has fixed the freeze-ups with nice orderly transfers with very slight artifactual trash; and only one Universal graphics intro. Excellent job Universal! Lets hope they withhold em coming. We’re over due for more WEBB TV, as in Season 2 of ADAM-12 and Dragnet. Definite gay to spy that Season 3 of EMERGENCY is on its scheme!

Emergency!, the action exhibit about firemen/paramedics which starred Robert Fuller (formerly of Wagon Snarl), Julie London, Bobby Troup (author of the song ”’Route 66”’), Kevin Tighe and Randolph Mantooth debuted in January, 1972 and had its piece of kinks. The characters were sometimes too stiff and the scripts too one-dimensional. So in Season 1, you regain your piece of classic episodes like ”’Botulism”’ (which deals with food poisoning and a urge to achieve the victims) and ”’Brushfire”’ (which has some of the series’ best fire scenes), but also clunkers like ”’Nurses Wild”’ (which wouldn’t air today because of its chauvinism) and ”’Irregular Wednesday”’ (an attractive portion on odd things happening in one day, but a theme that wears itself out mercurial) .

As far as storylines are concerned, this is the season that introduces Captain Stanley (Mike Norell), who gradually becomes one of the stronger characters in the series. I treasure every second of this film. Elvis is at his peak and Shelley Fabares is at her most blooming. The supporting cast is also great: Gary Crosby, Jimmy Hawkins, Joby Baker, Nita Talbot, Harold J. Stone, Chris Noel, Mary Ann Mobley. Every song is spacious and the chemistry between Elvis & Shelley really shows strong here. No Elvis movie collection should be complete without his best film. I give it an 11 out of 10!

I absorb both the US and international versions of this film, and the international edition is mighty better. Both versions carry a diminutive sexual tension throughout between Leon and Matilda, and the uncut version is more pronounced in this dwelling, but that isn’t the reason to seize it.
The extra 24 minutes on the uncut version provides a deeper concept of the relationship between the two as the film progresses. For example, in the US version Matilda never becomes a sincere “cleaner” or hitman. It’s only hinted at when they shoot a jogger from a rooftop with blanks. In the uncut version, Leon takes her completely under his hover and teaches her the trade, including scenes where the pair speed around killing dreadful guys and such. In the process, Leon teaches her the “ring trick” by tossing a grenade at a victim and keeping the ring and grenade pin in his hand. This scene sets up the final scenes in the movie in a arrangement that the US version left short and unexplained.
If you enjoyed the US version, you’ll probably cherish the uncut version more, if only because the characters and their relationships are worthy deeper.
French director Luc Besson (”The Messenger”; “The Fifth Element”) made his U.S. film debut with this brilliant thriller of an Italian hitman who is untouchable. “The Professional” stars Jean Reno (”The Tall Blue”) who plays Leon, a professional hitman with ninja-like skills, who eliminates rivals for a mob boss (Danny Aiello) .

After a evil cop (Gary Oldman) eliminates the family residing next door due to a drug transaction gone atrocious, Leon finds himself the guardian of young Mathilda (Natalie Portman in her mask debut) . Taking Mathilda under his helm, Leon teaches her the art of the “cleaner”. However, inconvenience lurks around every corner, and Leon must protect Mathilda from the same cops who killed her family.
Considered by many to be his masterpiece, “The Professional” was originally released internationally under the title “Leon”. However due to the feeling that American audiences might gather some material unacceptable, over 24 minutes of the film was edited out. Finally, Columbia/Tri-Star has made an great decision in releasing the uncut, international version of this splendid film in the U.S. as it originally was called in August 2000.
While the film’s central theme revolves around Leon and his job, the subplot where Mathilda develops an attraction for Leon is reminiscent of the novel/film “Lolita”. The chemistry between both characters in a father/daughter relationship can be intense, especially as we peer that Mathilda is in her puberty-stage.

Jean Reno is genuine as always, and Gary Oldman gives a chilling performance as Stansfield, the tainted DEA officer who murdered Mathilda’s family in wintry blood. However, the genuine scene-stealer in this film has to be Natalie Portman. This radiant young girl radiates beauty and professionalism throughout the film. Her porcelain-looking skin, and her grand brown eyes are well utilized in this film, making her character more childish, yet ragged to a obvious extent. Portman proved to audiences in this film that she was no flash in the pan, and in her subsequent films, she continues to be a scene-stealer. She is truly Hollywood’s most gifted young actress.
In the international version, most of the 24 minutes that were left out in the film’s 1994 release in the U.S. mainly involves both Leon and Mathilda going on “cleaning sweeps” where she gets first hand training in the art of assassination. The other half of these minutes focuses on Mathilda’s attraction to Leon. Her persistent attempts to be intimate with Leon all fail, but we finally understand why Leon remains a loner when it comes to affairs if the heart. Some might be unfortunate about the notion of Mathilda and Leon sharing a bed together, but Besson paints this scene as one arresting platonic esteem and not sex.
In wrapping up, I recommend this film for anyone who enjoys a nonstop, high-impact thriller in the same tradition as the “Matrix,” “Blade,” or “Plain Quiet”. Luc Besson truly is one of the world’s greatest action directors, and “Leon” captures his magic. An superb, pulstaing film from beginning to raze!

I grew up watching Gamera movies on Detroit TV. They’d have Gamera week and Godzilla week and I’d rush home from public school to search for em all.

Now as Gamera went I wasn’t as enormous a fan. The whole flying turtle thing and too many pathetic miniature kids in the anecdote lines really turned me off. BUT recently I bought the 90’s Gamera box location and was blown away! The 90’s movies are really honorable (too awful they didn’t obtain a piece 4) . And thus wanting more I decided to occupy a scamper down memory lane and trip the mine field of cheesy hokey cruddy Gamera films. I started with the first one which is totally ruined by American actor scenes which unbiased obtain an already lifeless movie EVEN worse. I checked out Gamera vs Monster X cause it was my all time childhood fave (the sub scene) . It’s OK but leans towards kiddy film heavily, although the cheese factor pulls it from a complete nose dive and several clever scenes support it above water too. Nervous about trying more I decided to read the other reviews and most people rated War of The Monsters rather highly (one I don’t remember all that well) so I gave it a shot- hell, Alpha DVD’s are cheap as dirt (with equal quality) . And I got to say I was happily surprised. Why??
A) Solid SCI-FI adult record line! Some loopy stuff but hey it’s about a flying turtle damn-it.

B) Superb action scenes. Loads of monster crushing stuff and decent human action as well.
C) Plausible depraved monster. Okay the rainbow ray is a bit sissy and the baseball bat tongue is really unfamiliar. But he grew up fast and mean. Excellent human villian too!
D) NO unimaginative dinky kids. I command NO insensible diminutive kids.
E) Hot chick in lead role. Got to like that.
F) Advantageous soundtrack- no kiddy music!
So why not 5 stars??
A) Not enough Gamera. When it ends you realize Gamera objective wasn’t in there enough to obtain it a 5. Good- but needed more.
B) Dreadful special effects- genuine enough for B-Movie fans. Better than “Reptilicus” but composed goofy abominable and loads of wires. Monster blood looked like chocolate milk (maybe the reason why is located in C) .
C) Pathetic Alpha Video quality dub. For three seconds the colour goes perfect and you realize why you are squinting your eyes. AND for those few seconds you realize how obliging this movie could scrutinize if done properly. Especially the island dancer scenes! Reach on Alpha Video it doesn’t have to suck this Awful!!
In conclusion: Solid Monster movie. Poor DVD quality dub. But a keeper in my B-Movie collection. I have a feeling this movie may last longer than Monster X (oh those tedious exiguous kids! And all that kiddy music. Gotta remember the telephone poles in the ears and the sub scene… cheese factor- cheese factor- plugging hydro wires into his heart by taking a sub into his mouth- classic cheese) .
In “War of the Monsters: Gamera vs. Barugon” (known as “Daikaijû kessen: Gamera tai Barugon” in the Land of the Rising Sun) everybody’s common jet-powered super-turtle Gamera battles Barugon, a broad horned dinosaur hatched from a stout opal. From his deadly horns, Barugon emits the devastating “rainbow ray” and he also has some wild tongue action that defies description. That means in this second edition of the Gamera series, the giant turtle gets to be the hero, so it clear was a favorable thing the Japanese Defense Forces decided to let him live at the raze of the first film. Gamera was awakened by a nuclear explosion, but Barugon gets hatched when a bunch of wearisome gangsters try to cash in on the giant opal, which, of course, is really a giant egg.

Unlike the first Gamera film, “War of the Monsters: Gamera vs. Barugon” is in color (which makes the special effects ogle cheesier) and in Japanese (which means unemployed American actors are sparred being spliced into the action, a ploy that only worked with Raymond Burr in the modern “Godzilla” film) . The first half of the film is arguably more dreary than the modern film, mainly because it is a monster movie with no monsters until the second half. But you do have the semblance of a fight between the two creatures in the waste. Deem this one step forward and one step backwards with regards to the new Gamera film. The cast is headed by Kojiro Hongo as Keisuke Hirata, Koji Fujiyama as Onodera, and Kyôko Enami as Karen.

I’ve read other reviews about how annoying Barney can be, but there is alot worse than Barney out there. The kids care for him, and there is an educational component to his DVDs. This is one of the better ones. The songs are about sharing, washing and other behaviors we want to attend. I for one would rather my children be listening to a dinosaur converse about inside voices than watching mindless cartoons.
Perfect for teaching toddlers about suitable manners – they always listen to Barney! Not only is it the usual Barney and friends fun, it helps diminutive ones to remember to say “please,” “thank you,” inside voice/outside insist and cleaning up after yourself. My 2-year-old has so grand fun watching it – and is learning advantageous manners too! The “Please and Thank You” song is very catchy, and everyone is on their best behavior at the wonderful party. The “Topsy Turvy Tea” from the Alice in Wonderland sequence is also a common… including a hilarious one-liner for the parents!

This is absolutely my current movie of the 1990’s. In my thought, there are few things as precious as a estimable, sparkling comedy, and this is one of the best. I first saw this movie in the theater with my mom, and I laughed so hard I missed spacious chunks of it, so of course I had to rent it and observe it again and again. It never gets traditional. Reynolds really hits her effect with her subtle glances, sighs, and sub-breath comments. While some people may be annoyed by what they spy as “bickering” in this movie, I gain hilarious, because it’s the dinky things that accomplish us laugh. It’s the shared experiences that you don’t realize are so silly until they’re up on the veil in front of you. Jerry Seinfeld and George Carlin are two comedians who have made careers pointing out those slight things in life that are funnier than you first realize. Albert Brooks does that same thing in this movie. The movie has a bit of a expressionless originate, but once it’s going you’ll be rolling on the floor with laughter. Let’s have the DVD already!
When you first gaze this movie, you aren’t quite determined what you are going to fetch. As it slowly reveals itself you win it as laughable as it is discomforting.
I contemplate Albert Brooks did a extraordinary job with this film. Portraying all the exclusive slight things that happen in our relationships with our respective mothers. Rob Morrow is also hilarious as the jealous younger brother. Every scene between him and Brooks is a laugh riot, because they both seem to regress to their younger days when they would fight over toys and the remote control.
All in all, I believe this film is something everyone can record to on some level. We have all had one or two of these wretchedly embarrassing moments with our mothers, and it is more than likely that they will happen again.

Very powerful movie/documentary!! EVERYONE NEEDS to watch this along with his previous doc “Eating!” Much of this info is available if you have the time and energy to read, research, read, research, read… the internet and certain books out there, but most people do not have that luxury these days and this documentary puts much, scattered-in-many-different-areas, information into a very well done video. I am one of those voracious readers and researchers, but even some of the information he presented was new to me. Fantastic movie! Cannot recommend highly enough!!!! Do yourself a favor and watch both of his movies!!!

Thinly disguised versions of American Idol and the Bush presidency collide in the satire American Dreamz. Meanwhile, equally desperate to court popularity, the President’s chief of staff (Willem Dafoe, Spider-Man, looking suspiciously Dick-Cheney-esqu) gets Tweed to let the President (Dennis Quaid, The Rookie) be a gust judge on the show. But unbeknownst to all, a privately conflicted terrorist (Sam Golzari) has been selected as a contestant, and his sleeper cell wants him to blow up the President in the final competition. This complicated storyline doesn’t quite have the bite it’s reaching for; the political edge is particularly blunted–even diehard Republicans are unlikely to be offended. But sharp and funny lines are sprinkled throughout and the cast is uniformly excellent; the relationship between Grant and Moore is oddly touching, and Marcia Gay Harden (Pollock) makes an amazing First Lady–is this satire, or what we all wish Laura Bush was really like?
